NTC Balance Check Code
- Open your phone's dialer.
- Dial
*400#. - Press Call.
- Your available balance appears on screen.
Does it work on prepaid? Yes, this is the standard balance code for GSM prepaid subscribers.
Does it work on postpaid? Postpaid accounts are billed rather than balance-based, so postpaid users generally check usage and dues through the Nepal Telecom app, self-care portal, or by calling 1498, rather than through *400#.
What if *400# is not working? Try again after a few seconds, confirm you selected the correct SIM on a dual-SIM phone, and check you have signal. See the code troubleshooting section below if it still fails.

Nepal Telecom calls its balance-loan service Namaste Credit. It is an emergency top-up of your own balance, not a cash loan, and NTC's own service page describes it as free of interest and extra charges.
Activate: Dial *1477# and select option 1, or SMS START to 1477.
Check credit / status: Dial *1477# and select option 3, or SMS STATUS to 1477.
Deactivate: Dial *1477# and select option 2, or SMS STOP to 1477.
Per Nepal Telecom's current official page, Namaste Credit is available to prepaid GSM and CDMA subscribers who have used their SIM for 3 months or more. The available credit amount is currently Rs. 30, and it depends on factors like how long you have used the SIM and how actively you recharge and use the network, so not everyone sees the same amount. The used credit is recovered automatically from your next top-up (with partial recovery if the top-up is smaller than the debt), there is no separate service charge, and the credit cannot be transferred to another number.

Dial *1415# to browse Nepal Telecom's currently available packages and subscribe directly from the menu. Use *1442# for add-on packages, and *1415*55# to check your remaining data, minutes, and validity on an active package.
Package prices and bundle sizes change often, so this page does not attempt to list every current combo offer. Instead:
View Latest NTC Packages (Official)
If Merokalam ever displays specific package prices elsewhere on the site, each listing will carry its own "Last price check" date, and packages will be grouped by type: daily, weekly, 28/30-day, unlimited voice-plus-data, and add-on. NTC's mobile app also shows your currently subscribed packages, remaining resources, and validity in a graphical view, which is often easier to read than a USSD menu.
NTC Number Check Code
Dial *9# and your own NTC mobile number appears on screen. This is officially listed by Nepal Telecom as "Check Your Mobile Number."
*9# डायल गर्नुहोस्।How to Check Whose Name an NTC SIM Is Registered To
Dial *922# to see the registered owner name for the SIM currently in your phone. This is different from checking your phone number with *9#, since a number and its registered owner name are two separate pieces of information.
NTC Recharge Code
Nepal Telecom's own recharge and top-up page lists the App, the online ATM/card portal at cardpay.ntc.net.np, the website's Self-Care feature, and digital wallets (eSewa, Khalti, IMEPay, CellPay, mobile banking apps) as the current official recharge channels for a scratch/recharge card or online recharge.
Example only, with a fictional PIN: *412*1234567890123456#
*412*PIN# doesn't work for you, use the NTC App, the official ATM/card recharge page, or a digital wallet instead, all of which are directly confirmed on NTC's own current page.Other recharge options: the Nepal Telecom app (Recharge Now), online recharge via cardpay.ntc.net.np using a debit/credit/ATM card, and eSewa, Khalti, IMEPay, CellPay, or your bank's mobile app.

First get your security code by sending SMS SCODE to 1415. Then dial the code above with your security code, the destination number, and the amount in rupees.
Who can transfer? NTC's official page states balance transfer is available only to prepaid GSM users, with a limit of Rs. 10 to Rs. 500 per transaction and a maximum of 20 transfers per day.
Can prepaid send to postpaid? NTC's page describes the service as prepaid-to-prepaid balance transfer; it does not list postpaid numbers as eligible recipients on the current official page.
What happens with the security code? It is a personal code tied to your number, requested fresh each time via SMS. Do not share it publicly or in a photo or screenshot.
Why is balance transfer failing? Common reasons include an expired or incorrect security code, an amount outside the Rs. 10 to Rs. 500 range, having already reached the 20-transfers-per-day limit, or attempting to send to a non-prepaid-GSM number.
NTC 4G Activation Code
Dial *444# to check whether your SIM supports 4G/LTE, and to activate the service if it does. The same code is also used to activate VoLTE (select "Activate VoLTE" from the menu, then enable VoLTE in your phone's network settings).
If you still have a 2G/3G SIM, NTC's FAQ states you need to exchange it for a 4G/LTE-compatible SIM through the regular SIM replacement process at an NTC office; the service activation itself is free. Having 4G activated on your SIM does not guarantee 4G everywhere: your phone must support 4G, and you need to be inside an area with 4G coverage. You can check VoLTE status by dialing *111# or calling 1444.
NTC International Roaming Code
Dial *1415*7# and choose activate or deactivate from the menu, or use the "International Services → Prepaid Roaming" option in the Nepal Telecom app.
Per NTC's current page: prepaid customers can activate through *1415*7# or the app. Postpaid customers can also use *1415*7#, or visit an NTC counter with a government-issued ID; postpaid activation additionally requires a minimum balance of Rs. 5,000, and if the balance later drops below Rs. 3,000, only data service continues to work. Customers who are already abroad can activate by emailing roaming.support@ntc.net.np. Balance queries work normally while roaming (dial *400#), and NTC's official contact for roaming issues from outside Nepal is +977-1-5901498.
For current per-country rates, use NTC's official tariff pages rather than a reproduced table here, since roaming tariffs change and vary widely by destination.

- Temporary network problem: wait a minute and try again; USSD sessions occasionally fail during high network load.
- Weak signal: move to an area with better reception before dialing.
- Wrong SIM selected on a dual-SIM phone: confirm you're dialing from the NTC SIM's slot, not the other operator.
- Code entered incorrectly: USSD codes are sensitive to exact characters; retype rather than editing an old code.
- Service available only for prepaid or only for postpaid: some codes, like
*400#, are built for prepaid; postpaid users should check the app or call 1498 instead. - Old or discontinued code: if a code you found elsewhere doesn't match this page, NTC may have changed it; use the current table above.
- SIM not eligible for the service: services like Namaste Credit require a minimum SIM age and are rolled out in phases, so a new SIM may not see it yet.
- Roaming situation: some domestic codes behave differently abroad; balance check works while roaming, but recharge and other services may need the app or a different channel.
- USSD session timeout: if a menu takes too long to respond, the session can expire; redial and respond more quickly.
- Phone or network settings issue: restarting your phone or toggling airplane mode briefly often resolves a stuck USSD session.
NTC Customer Support: Call 1498 (from outside Nepal: +977-1-5901498). There is no hidden "reset code" for stuck services; if a fix above doesn't work, customer support is the reliable next step.
USSD Code or Nepal Telecom App: Which Is Better?
USSD
- Fast, no app required
- Works on any phone, including basic phones
- Best for a quick balance or number check
Nepal Telecom App
- Better for browsing package details and prices
- Shows usage history and remaining resources graphically
- Handles recharge, balance transfer, bill payment, and gift packs
For a quick balance or number check, the USSD code is faster. For package management and usage information, the Nepal Telecom app is usually easier.
